What does volunteering involve?

Working in the Café doing a weekly or a monthly shift or whatever time you can spare….

All you need is a willingness to cook and serve the food, make drinks, keep the areas clean and tidy and chat with those customers who want to talk. Some in-house training will be given and a health and safety course can be undertaken when available. Volunteer sessions during the temporary opening hours will probably be:

  • Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm or 1pm to 4pm

This assumes 30 minutes to set up before opening and 30 minutes to clear up after closing but could be negotiated with your team leader if necessary.

Don’t fancy working with the public?  You can volunteer in other ways. Help with the laundry, bake for us at home!! We can reimburse you for the cost of materials or ingredients.

or

Helping behind the scenes .. have you some good DIY skills? We always need people to help with basic maintenance.

You think you haven’t got time for a regular commitment? Come in for a cup of tea and a snack anyway….. and  talk to some of the current volunteers!! You might be tempted to offer your services after all and, as it is all voluntary, you can always change your mind, (but we don’t think you will)!
